What does home mean to you?

Posted on Oct 7th, 2008 by Miriam : Oracle Miriam
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 06, 2008:

2008 is the year I became homeless... I'm in temporary housing, having moved twice already this year... and I'll probably have to move again before the year is up... I'm too exhausted by it all to come up with a definition of 'home'... Maybe I'll know one day... I hope so...

Greetings Lisa,

there are ways to make yourself feel home, no matter where you are or for how long your there.

its a place within your heart
it is a place of peace
like a warm hug
like you feel all the parts of you are one

I take it you're a single homeless mother too then, azyh? thanks for the advice but do you realise that you're talking to someone who's hanging on by their fingernails?

if you study Mazlow, you'll realise that we need the basics in life first… like having the security of a roof over your head that you know you can call 'home' for more than a few weeks at the time…

i'm sure i'll have the luxury of being philosophical about it once this has passed. the fact this too shall pass is my ONLY comfort right now… anyone who knows what i'm on about?

cheers,
lisa x

Dear Lisa,

Hi, we've been friends for a while but had not been connecting really so far. I hope I can begin now with sharing some on your blog.
Let me begin to tell you how sorry I am for you having te be in this situation of not having your own  home at the moment. I am a single Mom as well ( eventhough my daughter's grown up, she still lives with me) and I know how important it is to have a base, a warm nest so to speak.
I have often thought what it must be like for people to not have a home and almost every day I offer my gratefullness to have a roof above my head that, eventhough it's a rental, I can still call 'my home'.  Eventhough I haven't been in the situation myself, years ago, when our children were babies , I had a friend who went through a similar situation for a while not having ahome and staying in shelters and I remember how hard that was for her. I also had a friend who had 4 kids plus breastcancer and was staying in a shelter, so I've seen some of the pain of that. Both of them are all right now and have homes since a long time, so  rest assured that this will end to for you. keep the faith, do what you must do.
However since at this point there is not much I can do as far as offer real pratical help I would sure want to do something and  I would like to put your attention to the next link: http://pods.gaia.com/living_metaphysics/discussions/view/302515

There is some very vital and interesting information on 'spiritual mind treatment', it's a kind of affirmative prayer work, it's very grounding, and can help you focus to attract that what you need most now, a home. Please if you find some quiet time to read it and may be write down or otherwise formulate your specific claim, I am willing to work with you and i am sure the other members of the 'living metaphysics' pod will to so we can have a collaborate effort and focus that may help you attract your new home.
Dear Lisa, I know you can have a greater spiritual breakthrough than having your bike fixed without swearing  this year !(LOL). You want to give it a try ?

Also, just for some happy cheer up energy,  a little music to help  keep a hopeful and positive perspective on things:

Keep on keeping on dear Lisa,  Imagine your home, See your home, Accept your home, Feel your home, it is there , you will find it.  I understand you are exhausted now  but keep the faith, big hugs to you,
Lucienne

Thank you Azyh and Alluvja. I realise now that this the wrong medium through which to share how I feel about my homelessness. It's a bit like a starving person typing something on here in the vain hope of receiving food… I do wonder how people would respond to that kind of posting…

My close friends know that I have a firm spiritual and philosophical foundation. I don't need advice about how to view my situation or information about the Law of Attraction… I KNOW these things… I need to accept my emotions that sometimes aren't pleasant (because, guess what - even a spiritual person can be overwhelmed by life's circumstances at times!) and I need friends who can cope with that.

Oh, and Alluvja… I too am dealing with a health scare (my second this year!) as well as other issues on top of the homelessness…

Thanks for trying anyway…

Love
Miriam

if rejecting my words helps you find your way, then so be it. Find your way.

if you know all this, then why am I here reminding you about it?

am I to buy into your state of being? follow you into misery?
I have more then my own share of the stuff thank you very much.

each and every person on this planet is living their own hell.
Your hell isn't special.

did you really think we would make it easy for you to stay in it?

if you already know this, then you already know that we are here to help eachother find the gift. To help each other heal. To help each other stay in a state of gratitude. To help each other live heaven on earth. To help each other out of our private hell and into living, loving and finding our authentic selves.

if you already know this then you are here to receive.
learn to be more picky about what you receive in your life.
what are you letting in?
what are you keeping out?

Dear Lisa,

I think you are at the perfect medium to talk about your homelessness. But if you think we don't understand ot can't cope with you, then that's only your opinion.

Dear Lisa, me suggesting something or offering some help does in no way indicate that I think you don't Know these things or don't have a firm spiritual foundation. Why do you think that? All I wanted to offer  is to Be there with you because I believe when people focus together there is a greater and stronger energy field.
Not only that, it's about sharing, it's about Love, it's about caring.

Of course you need to accept your emotions, being spiritual has nothing to do with not accepting emotions. What makes you think we can't cope with that?

Why are you so defense if people reach out to you in Love?

I don't know Azyh personally (yet) but I have read some poetry of her in another thread and it was very deep, very beautiful, very grounded. She's reaching out to you, so am I . Not because we think you don't Know, but to affirm you in your Knowing, in your Being,  to be there when you're sad or angry or exhausted. Many of us here have a firm spiritual foundation, it's not about Knowing about it, it's about Living it, forgiving ourselves and others when we forget, be gentle to ourselves  and others in our desperation,  in our emotions.

If you know it all, why are you here?

Love,
Alluvja

I'm not asking anyone to 'follow me into my misery'.

I never claimed to know it all.

I guess this is what Saturn and Chiron in the 11th House are all about.

When I trained as a councellor I had to learn the art of active listening… of not judging or trying to fix another's problem… of empathy….

That's the kind of space that needs to open up when someone suffers…

It's not here.

Greetings Miriam,

I'm not sure I can share with you what this conversation has meant for me. Only to say I am so deeply grateful and honoured to have exchanged words with you.

You have helped me to see something that I so desperately needed to see for myself this week. I wish I could bundle up what I mean let you open it so you can receive this gift as well and understand what I am saying.

All I know is that I need to say thank you soo so so so much for BEing who you are and true to yourself.

xx azyh

I think you have a valid point, Lisa…..sometimes we dare to express OUR reality and the world responds to our pain from the space of their own……..sometimes the greatest thing we can do to express our love of another…is to allow their expression without needing to interpret it ,heal it,or present our own space in return…….Often my sense of unity with another has in the past relied upon my ability to recognize their reality….as a reflection of my own…….this  was a step on the way to experiencing unity through the act of sharing …that is, one aspect sharing its experience of being with another……….I am  in unity with another if and only if I Allow them to share their space fully……we are all reflectons of a larger whole….but also finite points of experience……..You have among others brought this space for me to experience…….thankyou for sharing……..

With an open heart I hear your pain……..
Love n Light
