For the One I Love

GRACE (trad. XVII The Star)
Dante and Beatrice were never united on the earth plane, yet this card represents hope and inspiration.
I find myself withdraw into awefilled silence when I contemplate the power of love contained in the story of these two lovers. Dante fully trusted a vision where he saw Beatrice held in the arms of Amor. The god of Love also held Dante's heart, and he told Dante that this heart belonged to Beatrice for all eternity.
It was grace that bestowed this vision on Dante, so that he could continue his life here on earth even though Beatrice had married someone else. This same celestial grace kept him inspired to write some of the most popular and celebrated poetry of his time.
Dante had the courage to trust his heart and his inner voice, even though he initially stumbled and fell prey to his own insecurities, thus missing the opportunity to ask for Beatrice's hand in marriage. Heaven rewarded him for his belated courage with divinely inspired literary genius and certain reunion in Paradise.
What Dante realised was that true lovers are in each other all the time.
When we meet our primary soulmate here on earth there are signs, an increase in synchronicities. On the other side we are programmed to remember who our soulmates are, yet many of us - like Dante - miss opportunities to be reunited here on earth.
May divine grace illuminate us all, and may our hearts be open to this guidance.
