Invisible Girl

Invisible Girl
I can walk through glass
And bleed and not feel
Nothing if not ethereal
Nothing if not invisible
Nothing, nothing at all
I can spy on you
In the dark
In broad daylight
You don't see me -
I'm the invisible girl
My skin is breaking up
I look into the mirror
And see the colour pale
Watery eyes that know
What it feels like to fail
A memory of warmth lingers
There was a time
When another me
Had somebody else's fingers
Gently trace my outline
If only I could find
A red thread
A thread to tie around me
Then perhaps you would see
That I am really me

Help

What a beautiful poem!
Thanks Annemieke. I wrote this poem this afternoon and it only took about 15 minutes. I think it had been fermenting inside me since I was a young girl; writing it was part of healing my inner child in awareness. Perhaps poetry is the red thread? Glad you liiked it!
