SEPARATED SOULMATES

CONTEMPLATION - (trad. IX The Hermit)

The story of Abelard and Eloise has always touched my heart in a special way, and if I wasn't her in one of my past lives, I'm fairly certain that I've shared a fate similar to hers where I've been forced to separate from a lover and live my life under vows of chastity in service to 'the Holy Mother Church'. Many, many of my past lives were behind cloistered walls.

When the Hermit shows up in a reading there's not much happening between the two lovers concerned. One or both of them is focusing more on his or her inner life. Sometimes this is by choice, sometimes it's fate. I also often get a feeling that the energies of the couple in question aren't a great match - especially if this card shows up in the very first relationship reading.

It's important that we allow each other space for contemplation... In fact, couples who live together should encourage each other to take time out. Some of us are sensitive souls with greater need for time on our own to think, meditate, integrate and recharge our batteries. Like the Hermit, we are then able to re-enter the real world with our light held high, helping to inspire and guide those around us.

All the people I know who are on a number 9 Life Path have a tendency to want withdraw from the hustle and bustle of ordinary life. Even though I'm on a 3 Life Path, my Spirit Name vibrates to 9.

One of my closest friends here in North Yorkshire who is an Aries on a 9 Life Path, is so much attuned to the 9 vibration that we, her friends, often find ourselves saying that she is 'hermiting' again, and we're all OK with it. When she does come out to play and shares her writings with us, it is truly mindblowing stuff - straight from the Source. She has the gift of claircognizance (clear knowing), in keeping with her fiery sun sign (clairvoyance = Air, clairsentience = Water, clairaudience = Earth).

Abelard and Eloise didn't get to live together that incarnation, but no doubt were they reunited in the Spirit World, and have since spent many incarnations playing hide and seek here on earth. I think their love story is so well-known because most of us resonate with the feeling of being separated from our Beloved by forces beyond our control. May Fate and Grace be kind to each of us who long to be reunited with our Soulmate.
